Scarification is a term that is used to describe the act of scarifying. Scarifying involves scratching, etching, or some sort of superficial cutting or incision. Scarification can be applied to horticulture, which involves cutting the seed coat using acid, sand paper, or a knife to encourage germination, the cutting of concrete using hydrodemolition, or as a permanent body modification, etching designs, pictures, or words into the skin.

yes, scars intentionally carved on the human skin. it doesnt exactly look like this at 1st yeah. its really bloody and almost "hostel-like"..

scarification is a beautiful form of art, that those not already aware of it, should be privileged to also come to appreciate.. in any case, im totally awed by how cultural practices can actually become a prominent form of body art, indulged by many today. for the time being, it seems as if majority of our singaporean community may find it a tad hard to accept this unique way of moulding one's personality and identity.
however, art definitely takes time to mature.
although i dont think id go for it (tattoos should be the limit for me, it seems..and the pain knowingly unbearable), itd be wonderful if more could come to appreciate such, in one way gory, yet amazingly beautiful form of art (body art). =)
