illogical
i had a conversation with one of my friends, who happens to be a staunch christian. she introduced me to this website which opposes to this petition for a repeal of S377A, to keep this 377a.. in the website its mentioned that the majority is against this repeal and that "A recent NTU study revealed that almost 70% of Singaporeans expressed negative attitudes towards lesbians and gay men." a question raised here would be, how many have they researched on? or does it stand for almost the entire population?
next up.. my friend and i talked about this.. when she pasted this link onto out msn chat window, i replied her that im pro gay, sorry. and that i have signed the petition to repeal 377a. next thing, her replies were, when is halloween and if i was gonna be out.. at that point, my 1st impression was that she was avoiding the topic. so i after replying, i asked her if she was anti-gay? she said she respected them but she doesnt think that we should be promoting gayness. this conversation was going nowhere as i tried to raise to her the awareness that it was an unfair judgement placed and that there should be a fair and just argument or even a proper discussion regarding this topic.
i asked her a few questions..
1) what if it was her?
2) what if her son was gonna be one?
3) does she have gays friends?
4) is she afraid of them?
she told me she was only hoping that it would be kept under control. and that if the repeal was successful, there would be more homosexuals around. in my own personal opinion, this is utterly absurd. perhaps it was just different perceptions, different perspectives. but all in all, i think its religion and the government.
somehow, our beloved country might not be going to be as peaceful as it had always been. =)
